THE CONCEPT
In the great H.W. Longfellow poem The Day is Done, he laments the passing of a day and of time. He writes in prose about how things in the day turn into new things at night and again in the waking day.
It was this poem that lay inspiration to this design. Harkening back to the old days of music - rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, and blues specifically - with it’s retro microphone taking center stage, surrounded by an eclectic mix of post-modern grunge textures and floral line art. This design is as beautiful as it is inspirational.
The Day is Done by H.W. Longfellow
Who, through long days of labor,
And nights devoid of ease,
Still heard in his soul the music
Of wonderful melodies.
Such songs have power to quiet
The restless pulse of care,
And come like the benediction
That follows after prayer.
Then read from the treasured volume
The poem of thy choice,
And lend to the rhyme of the poet
The beauty of thy voice.
And the night shall be filled with music,
And the cares, that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away.
